# Dashboard

> Read your key figures and unreconciled bank lines, arrange dashboard cards, and choose your shortcuts.

The dashboard is your financial home base — the first screen after sign-in. It updates as you approve documents, record payments and reconcile statement lines, using the posted entries in your books.

## What you see

* **Total Revenue** and **Total Expenses** — posted income and expenses for the selected period.
* **Profit & Loss** — revenue, expenses and **Net Profit/Loss** for that period.
* **Cash Position** and **Bank Accounts** — your bank balances at a glance.
* **Outstanding Receivables / Outstanding Payables** — what customers owe you and what you owe suppliers, with invoice and bill status widgets.
* **Cash Flow** — cash movements over the selected period.
* **Unreconciled Transactions** — the number of imported statement lines still awaiting reconciliation, plus credit (money in) and debit (money out) totals in each bank account currency. This card covers **all dates**, regardless of the dashboard period.
* **Quick Actions** — shortcuts to the tasks available to your role.

What you see depends on your role

The dashboard only shows what your role can see: **Total Revenue / Total Expenses / Profit & Loss** need the **Reports** permission, **Cash Position** and **Bank Accounts**, **Cash Flow** and **Unreconciled Transactions** need **Bank Accounts**, and receivables and payables follow the sales and purchases sides. A Sales rep, for example, sees receivables but not your bank balances, profit, or supplier bills. See [Roles & permissions](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/roles/).

## Changing the period

Use the selector at the top to choose **Month**, **Quarter**, **Year** or **Financial Year**. The last uses your organization’s financial year end. The dashboard shows the dates covered and recomputes totals for that period. For a custom date range, open the relevant [report](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/reports/).

## Read the Cash Flow chart

**Cash Flow** shows **Money in** and **Money out** for the same calendar period as the dashboard totals. Its displayed date range tells you exactly what is included. The vertical scale shows the amounts represented by the bars.

| Dashboard period | Chart grouping |
| ------------------------------ | -------------- |
| **Month** | Daily |
| **Quarter** | Weekly |
| **Year** or **Financial Year** | Monthly |

Select a bar to inspect its dates and amounts. The chart uses posted movements through bank accounts, in the organization’s base currency. Internal transfers, opening balances and exchange-rate revaluation entries are excluded, so moving money between your own accounts does not inflate both money in and money out. Unreconciled statement imports alone do not appear.

For operating, investing and financing classifications, open the separate [Cash Flow Statement](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/cash-flow/).

## Choosing which bank accounts appear

The **Bank Accounts** card has a small sliders icon — click it to get an on/off switch for each account. Hide the old savings account you never touch; keep the ones you actually use. A **Show all** shortcut brings everything back if you’ve hidden some.

Your choices are saved **per user and organization**, so they follow you across browsers and devices. Dashboard widget visibility, bank-account order, period and display currency are saved at the same level.

## Arrange your dashboard

Use the grip beside a card title to drag it to another position. You can also focus the grip and use the arrow keys. To make **Cash Flow** or **Quick Actions** wider or narrower on a wider screen, move your pointer close to either side of the card and drag the vertical resize bar. The cards arrange into fewer columns on smaller screens.

Select **Dashboard settings** beside the period selector to choose your display currency and use **Show / Hide Widgets** to choose which cards appear. Card position, width and visibility changes save automatically for your user account in this organization and follow you across devices. Choose a currency and select **Apply** to update the displayed amounts.

To restore the starting arrangement and choices, select **Dashboard settings → Reset dashboard view**, then confirm. This also resets your period, display currency and Quick Actions choices for this organization.

For example, move **Unreconciled Transactions** beside **Bank Accounts** to review unmatched lines and balances together. If you later want the original arrangement, use **Reset dashboard view**.

## Choose Quick Actions

Select the settings icon beside **Quick Actions** to open **Quick Actions Settings**. Switch shortcuts on or off and use the up and down buttons to put them in your preferred order. Your choices save automatically. The shortcuts available to you depend on your role.

## Reading the numbers accurately

Reconcile, then trust the dashboard

Imported statement lines alone **don’t post** to your books. Approving invoices and bills or recording payments already affects the relevant totals, before bank matching. Use [Bank reconciliation](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/bank-reconciliation/) to match those records and create entries for activity you have not yet recorded.

Click any total to drill into the transactions behind it — the dashboard is a summary layer over the same data your [reports](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/reports/) use, so every figure is traceable back to the journal entries that produced it.

## Common uses

* **Daily:** glance at revenue, expenses and cash balances to review activity.
* **Weekly:** check net profit trend and make sure no account has a growing “Unreconciled” badge. The **Unreconciled Transactions** card shows the total lines waiting across your bank accounts, with credit and debit amounts by currency.
* **Monthly/Quarterly:** use it as the launchpad into your [Profit & Loss](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/reports/) and [Cash Flow](https://www.accountfun.com/docs/guides/reports/) reports before period close.
